The parliament on Tuesday unanimously approved a proposal to increase the fee for fishing activities by two Euros.

According to the new rate, the fee required for fishing will rise to EUR 24, which was EUR 22 earlier. Similarly, the new fee for lure fishing will rise to EUR 31 from the present rate of EUR 29.

The fee, which is paid to the state, concerns people between the age of 18-64 for fishing techniques other than the ice fishing.

The fee will be applicable even when the fishing is carried out in own fishing grounds.

The lawmaker of Swedish Peoples’ Party in Finland (Ruotsalainen kansanpuolue-RKp) Wallin, who initiated the proposal, however, did not cast vote on the bill.

Wallin viewed that it would be perfect if the fee was fixed at EUR 40, as that would enable to return the money to owners of fishing grounds to cater for refurbishment of fishing grounds and the reintroduction of fish.
