Finnish environmentalist Sini Saarela, who was arrested along with 30 other Greenpeace activists in Russia, has been released on bail on Tuesday.

A Saint Petersburg court granted the bail, which was set at two million roubles (About €45,00).

Eight other detained Greenpeace activists and a photographer were also released on bail on the same day while Australian Colin Russell was denied bail.

During the hearing on the bail appeal, Saarela requested the Judge for a 30-minute break so that she could go through the case file together with her lawyer.

“I am feeling fine,” Saarela told reporters when they inquired about her condition in the courtroom.

A Russian court on October 30 charged 30 Greenpeace activists, including Saarela, with hooliganism.

Russian coastguards captured a Greenpeace ship named Arctic Sunrise along with the 30 activists on September 18 when they staged demonstration against oil rigging by Gazprom in the sea.

The Russian authority on September 29 sent Saarela and others to a two-month pre-trial detention in custody.

The released activists come from Argentina, Brazil, Canada, France, Finland, Italy, New Zealand and Poland, reported BBC, adding that the court granted bail to three Russians from the group of 30 on Monday.
