At least 13 persons were killed and 607 injured in 468 road traffic accidents in October, according to preliminary data of Statistics Finland.
 
However, the number of persons killed and that of persons injured were lower than in October 2012.
 
Of the persons who were killed, six travelled by passenger car and one by lorry.
 
Pedestrians killed in road traffic accidents numbered five and cyclists one.
 
Among those who died, ten were men and three were women, according to the data.
 
A total of 4,398 road traffic accidents involving personal injury happened in the January to October period.
 
 
The number of persons killed was 19 lower and that of persons injured 385 lower than in the corresponding period of 2012.
 
Of the persons who were killed, 125 travelled by passenger car, four by lorry, five by van, 24 by motorcycle and three by moped.
 
Pedestrians killed numbered 21 and cyclists 19.
 
In addition, seven other road users were killed, said the data.
