The premier made the remark while addressing a meeting on security policy organised by the parliamentary committee on foreign affairs.
Katainen, however, said it was not yet clear when Finland would assume the leadership role of leadership. “The most important thing is that the defence forces are readily available when you need them.”
The prime minister is also of the view that the greatest benefit of taking charge is that it would be good exercise.
“Regardless, we are ready to participate in various cooperation measures from now on,” said Katainen.
He, however, pointed out that the combat troops formed to tackle crisis had not been used in the last one decade.
The issue would be placed at the upcoming EU summit, he said.
