Three people including a woman were shot and killed on late Saturday or early Sunday, inside an isolated house at Laihia in Ostrabothnia.

Police suspected that a man had reportedly killed his ex-girlfriend and her boyfriend, before finally turning the gun on himself.

Police recovered the bodies from two separate places in the house on Monday after being informed by the son of the victim woman, the police said.

No one heard the gunshots as the incident took place in a secluded area far away from any neighbourhood, Ostrabothnia police said.

The bodies of a man and a woman – who hailed from Laihia – were recovered from the main house, while the body of another man from Vaasa was found in the sauna.

Police however said the motive of the killing could not be ascertained while further investigation was being carried out in this regard.

On September 2, a man reportedly killed himself after shooting down his girlfriend and wounding her daughter with his licensed firearm at Nurmijärvi area in Uusimaa.

Police said the incident took place when a 40-year-old man shot his girlfriend and her three-year old daughter in their house.

The woman sustained serious wounds in the attack and succumbed to her injuries immediately while the daughter managed to escape with bullet wounds to her throat by taking shelter at the neighbourhood.

The man later killed himself and police recovered his body from near the house.

Terming the murders as a sequel to family feud, police said there was no involvement of outsiders in the murders.

Earlier on August 29, a man gunned down his wife before killing himself following a conjugal feud at Puuppola area of Jyväskylä.

After initial investigation, the police said the couple – who had two children – were going to get divorced.

They locked in an altercation when the wife had come to the house to get her belongings on the morning of August 29.

At a certain stage, the husband shot his wife and later killed himself with his licensed hunting gun a few yards away from the house.

The 38-year-old wife died on the spot immediately after the arrival of police, while the body of 48-year-old husband was recovered from the nearby area.

On June 15, a Finnish national shot himself to death after killing his Estonian girlfriend with his own pistol in Helsinki.

The shooting occurred at the West Harbour in Helsinki port in broad daylight, when the 53-year-old Finnish man shot his 46-year-old girlfriend, moments before she was departing to Estonian capital Tallinn.
