Police suspect active drug gang in Helsinki jail

Police have identified a suspected 25-member gang for drug smuggling in the country from different parts of Central Europe, sources in the National Bureau of Investigation said.
 
Sources said the law enforcement agency also suspected that the gang members had planned smuggling and distribution from inside a jail in Helsinki.

Police said the criminals maintain communication with the outside world from the prison in a variety of ways. 
 
The ring includes five Finnish nationals belonging to a gang known as  Bandidos, A motorbike group reportedly cooperates with them.

The allegations brought against the suspected smuggling gang will be heard in Espoo District Court at the end of January.
 
It is suspected that 76 kilograms of amphetamine, some ecstasy and hashish were smuggled into the country.
 
The latest incident was in October when 10kg amphetamine and 5kg hashish were recovered from a courier parcel.
