As many as 484 road accidents took place in November, killing 30 people and injuring 581.

The number of casualties was 18% higher than a year before and that of injured 6% lower, according to preliminary data of Statistics Finland. Of the people killed, 17 travelled by passenger cars, three by vans and one by lorry.

Eight pedestrians and one cyclist were killed in road mishaps. Among those who were killed, 23 were men and seven women.

A total of 4,890 road accidents involving personal injury happened from January to November, when 239 people were killed and 6,109 injured.
