Finland's population increased to 5,449,657 at the end of November, according to the Statistics Finland.
 
The preliminary data of the Statistics Finland showed that over the January to November period, country’s population increased by 23,000 persons, which is 1,200 persons less than in the corresponding period of the year before.
 
The main reason for the population increase was migration gain from abroad, according to the statistics.
 
The number of immigrants was 16,000 higher than that of emigrants. Natural population growth, or excess of births to deaths, was 7,000 persons.
 
For the January to November period, 28,350 persons immigrated to Finland from abroad and 12,400 persons emigrated from Finland.
 
The number of immigrants was 750 lower and the number of emigrants was 550 lower than in the corresponding period of the previous year.  
                 
During the January to November period, 53,800 children were born, which is 1,200 children less than in the corresponding period of 2012.
 
The number of deaths was 46,800, which is 250 lower than one year earlier, according to the preliminary data.
