The Kansallinen Kokoomus (National Coalition Party), the biggest component of the six-party alliance government started to regain popularity slightly after repeated falls of public support during the recent period, according an opinion polls conducted by Yle.

The results of the survey report released on Friday, however, showed that the main opposition Suomen Keskusta (Centre Party) with 23.9 percent of support is still on the top of the popularity, followed by Kokoomus with 19.1 percent support.

Compared to the previous survey, the popularity of Kokoomus increased by 0.8 percent in the most recent polls conducted in December by the YLE.

Perussuomalaiset (True Finns ) remained in third position with  17.4 percent popularity while Suomen Sosialidemokraattinen Puolue (Social Democratic Party) also showed slight increase in support with 15.9 percent popularity.

The popularity of the small components of the alliance government also declined, said the survey report.

An organisation Taloustutkimus conducted the survey through interviewing more than 2,000 people during the week when the government decided on the restructuring process.

The margin of error pertaining to major political parties is 1.8 percent in either direction.
