A man was killed in a train accident near Koivukylä train station in Vantaa on Tuesday, police said.
 
The accident took place at around 5:30pm causing train backlog on the main track.
 
According to police, the cause of the accident and the victim’s identity could not be known immediately.
 
Railway traffic sources said the accident had caused a delay of about 15 minutes to a number of trains.
 
The train involved in the accident was the R-train that ply between Riihimäki to Helsinki.
 
Espoo, a young man died after his car skidded off the road and hit a railway fence Tuesday evening.
 
The accident took place at the Länsiväylä Espoolähti junction a little after 7pm.
 
Police said the car was heading towards Helsinki when it hit the railing head-on from the right lane.
 
The driver, a resident of Kirkkonummi, was alone in the car. 
 
Driving conditions were said to be normal during the evening.
 
The accident caused traffic congestion towards the direction of Helsinki and the closure of the Espoolähti slip road.
