Born in 1920, Ihamäki wrote for the Satakunta regional newspaper Lalli for the first time at the age of 14 before joining the army in 1939.
He joined YLE radio in 1953 gaining popularity quickly and is credited among other things for being one of the pioneers who created the Prime Minister’s Interview Hour programme.
He retired from YLE in 1985 but was still actively involved in some of their activities. Until his demise, he actively contributed to a number newspapers in Satakunta.
