Speaker of Parliament Eero Heinäluoma on Saturday said use of cell phones by the lawmakers during the parliamentary proceedings should be restricted.

Heinäluoma made the observasion in an interview with the YLE TV’s breakfast programme.

The speaker said the idea of prohibiting the use of cell phones during parliamentary sittings was not an impossible one.

Heinäluoma observed that legislators gave the house a disorderly impression when they share their pictures in the social media when parliament is in session.

He also criticised the MPs, who were late during the opening of parliament on Tuesday, saying it would have been better for them to not completely show up instead of arriving late.
