The police board is adamant that the Wikipedia online notice does fit the criteria of fundraising although it is not licensed to collect donations.
Jouni Laiho, a representative of the police board, told STT that the fundraising notice was genuine.
The board, however, sought clarification from Wikipedia on why its activities asking for donations could not be implied as fundraising.
It also wanted Wikipedia to disclose the amount of money it had collected through the online notice.
Wikipedia has been given a couple of weeks to respond to the police request. Further steps will be taken after Wikipedia's response, said Laiho.
