Five people were sent to jail on Tuesday for trafficking marijuana to the country.

The Helsinki district court found three men guilty of possessing nearly 40kg marijuana with a street value of €300,000 in the summer of 2013.

The three forwarded the stash to a fourth man in Äänekoski and Saarijärvi in central Finland. They arranged the trafficking from Albania to Finland by courier.

The stash was hidden in the woods in central Finland. The ring was exposed after a man tipped police off.

Besnik Spata, 29, Rexhep Spata, 31, and Toni Tavani, 36, were handed prison terms of 51 months each. In addition, the court sentenced two others to shorter absolute sentences and suspended sentences.
