A man, who was admitted to hospital after reportedly injuring himself in a police van, succumbed to his wounds on Friday, reported Finnish-language tabloid Ilta-Sanomat.
The man, hailing from Tampere, sustained injuries at the back of a police van.
The report said the incident took place when the police were carrying the man to the police station on suspicion of a crime on February 7.
According to the tabloid, the Office of the Prosecutor General directed the head of investigation to determine the events leading to the death.
