The Finnish Safety and Chemicals Agency (Tukes) has removed 10 electrical cigarette products from the market because of safety concerns.
Tukes tested 15 electrical cigarette products. The tests examined the products’ electrical safety, the use of hazardous substance in the charger, cigarette parts and batteries.
The test established safety deficiencies in charging devices in nine cases.
In four cases, the importer was required to collect the products from the users or withdraw the product from the market.
Only three of the tested products met the safety requirements. Two products tested indicated slight shortcomings.
According to the Tukes, the safety testing has yielded similar results in other parts of Europe as well.
