Nine people were injured in a road accident in Kolari area of Lapland on Sunday, said the police.
The accident took place in the morning when a minibus collided with a van at an intersection between Ylläksentie and E8 road at 9.00 am.
The collision left one person seriously injured, according to sources at Lapland Central Hospital in Rovaniemi.
The critically wounded person was taken to the intensive care unit. In total, nine people were brought in for treatment. The hospital had been alerted of the accident and was prepared for the situation.
According to the police, nine Finns were travelling in the minibus while six Lithuanians were in the van.
The minibus which was pulling a trailer is reported to have been speeding before hitting the van coming from the south at the intercession.
The incident is being investigated for aggravated endangering of road safety among other things.
