More burglaries and cases of attempted break, especially in summer houses, increased in the first quarter of the year.
During the period between January-March, the police recorded 60 burglaries in summer houses while the corresponding period a year ago saw only three such cases.
Most of the suspects in the cases are reported to have been foreigners.
Incidents of vandalism, shoplifting and robbery are also on the rise.
In total, the Helsinki police investigated more than 25,500 cases of crime between January and March which is 2,000 more than that in January-March 2013.
Apart from property crimes, traffic offences and sexual abuse of children have also increased.
Some of these crimes were committed earlier but remained unreported until recently.
