Alexander Stubb, the minister of European Affairs and Foreign Trade is the favourite candidate for the chair of the Kansallinen Kokoomus (National Coalition Party), according to an online poll by MTV.
 
Stubb emerged as the most popular with the respondents receiving 35 per cent of the polling support. Paula Risikko, the minister of Social Affairs and Health was second with 22 per cent and the minister of Economic Affairs, Jan Vapaavuori was third garnering 16 per cent from the polling.
 
The new NCP chairperson will also take the place of Prime Minister Jyrki Katainen.
 
The survey carried out by Think If Laboratories was responded to by nearly 1,600 people. The margin of error was +/-3.
 
The new party leader of NCP will be elected by around 850 delegates at a convention scheduled to take place in Lahti on June 14.
 
Jyrki Katainen on April 5 announced his decision to step down as the NCP chairman as well as the prime minister.
