A German frigate and a Dutch aircraft reportedly violated the Finnish territorial water and airspace separately on Tuesday.

The frigate is suspected of briefly trespassing into Finland’s external territorial waters outside Porkkalanniemi in the early afternoon.

The vessel is reported to have been in Finland on an unofficial naval visit.

The suspected violation happened when the vessel was on its way back. The Finnish border guard is investigating the matter.

German frigates Hamburg and Mecklenburg-Vorpommern and maintenance tanker Spessart made naval visits to Helsinki recently.

The naval vessels which had departed from Wilhelmshaven in February took part in several exercises in Germany and abroad, reported the German embassy in Finland on its website.

In total, the vessels have 220 crew-members.

Meanwhile, a small aircraft registered in The Netherlands is suspected of illegally crossing over the national boundary in Kuhmo near Russian boarding area on Tuesday morning.

The national border-crossing, according to preliminary data, was extended by a few hundred metres towards the Russian side.

The incident was reported to the Russian Federation border authorities in the Kalevala region. The Kainuu border guard is investigating the matter.
