The present husband of the woman suspected of killing five babies was questioned by the police on suspicion of abetting one case of manslaughter.

The recon according to the police is that the death of the last baby is believed to have taken place around the time the couple had began their relationship.

The man was, however, not detained as the suspicions are not deemed that strong by the police.

The District court ordered that the 35-year-old woman to be held behind the bars on suspicion of the killings of the babies.

Police on Wednesday discovered a package containing the remains of five full-term foetuses from the basement of an apartment house at Heinäpää in Oulu.

The preliminary investigation indicates that the killings had been done between 2003-2011.This information is based on the suspected woman's own testimony.

The police currently have knowledge of the sex of four of the dead babies but did not comment on the matter.

The forensic medical examination is expected to take several weeks.

The police suspect that the remains of the babies were stored in freezer during the suspected woman stay in the previous apartment.

The bodies were, however, not kept in a freezer in the apartment which the woman had recently moved as it did not have one. The bodies were instead kept at a closet in the apartment's basement.

The police have also questioned some of those close to the woman and according to the information no one knew of her pregnancies.

The woman had admitted of having concealed her pregnancies by use of clothing. According to the woman, her pregnancies were not visible.

The woman had considered burying the bodies but in the end she never did so.

According to the police, the detained woman was shocked but at the same time relieved.

The identity of the babies’ father has, so far, not been discussed with the woman. Supposedly, it is thought that a number of babies had the same father.

The police did not comment on issues pertaining to her present family.

The woman had been living in Oulu during the time of her pregnancies.

There is nothing to indicate at this moment to support the evidence that there had been more than five dead babies, according to the police.
