FTimes-STT Report, June 27

The ruling Kansallinen Kokoomus (National Coalition Party) is still the most popular party, according to a latest survey by Yle.

NCP support stands at 20.3 per cent in June, according to the survey.

NCP overtook the opposition Suomen Keskusta (Centre Party) last month as the most popular party in the country.

The Centre Party’s support, however, has remained unchanged at 19.5 per cent.

The popularity of Suomen Sosialidemokraattinen Puolue (Social Democratic Party of Finland), the second biggest component of the five-party alliance government has continued to decline, standing at 14.8 per cent, its lowest-ever support, as per the Yle party support survey.

The opposition Perussuomalaiset (Finns Party) is the third most popular party in the country, with 17.9 per cent support among Finns.

The Vasemmistoliitto (Left Alliance), which recently resigned from the government and joined the opposition bench in the parliament, has emerged as the biggest gainer.

It support grew by almost one percentage point to 9.3 per cent. The party’s recent rise started to reflect after the party quit the government.

The support of the Vihreä Liitto (Green League), another component of the alliance government, remains relatively stable, which now stands at exactly 9 per cent.

The public support of another ruling party, the Suomen Ruotsalainen Kansanpuolue (Swedish People’s Party of Finland), stands at 4.2 per cent while that of the Suomen Kristillisdemokraatit (Christian Democrats of Finland) is at 3.8 per cent.
