The Helsinki District Court ruled that the act was premeditated and tantamount to murder.
The accused admitted the shooting but denied committing the murder.
The court heard that the accused had waited in a car in the residential area where the victim lived before carrying out the act.
After spotting the victim’s spouse walking the dog, the accused drove to the victim’s house, opened the car window, greeted them and shot the victim from a couple of metres away.
The accused was caught on the same day and was also charged with compromising road safety after causing a collision at Itäväylä, Helsinki.
