The Ministry for Foreign Affairs has decided to grant a total of EUR 27.5 million to 28 International Non-Governmental Organisations (INGOs) for their development cooperation efforts.

A call for proposals for INGO support was announced in April earlier this year. The Ministry received a total of 125 applications seeking funding for approximately EUR 130 million, said a government press release.

The majority of proposals received, among the topical pre-determined 10 themes, were linked to promotion of human rights and democracy, peace-building, and strengthening of civil society.

Geographically focused projects were sought for initiatives in North Africa and the Middle East as well as Vietnam.

Other themes, under which programs will be supported include domestic resource mobilisation, sexual and reproductive health and rights, as well as, planetary resilience and ecological sustainability.

The development cooperation funds channelled through International Non-Governmental Organisations will realize 29 development projects around the globe or provide core funding to organisations that work on these thematic fields.

These partner INGOs will carry out advocacy and campaign work, and provide know-how and services in developing countries.
