The police have revealed that an extraordinary number of drug offences and drug-related crimes came to their attention during the Summer Sound Festival held in Helsinki last week.

According to the police, 86 cases were spotted with a vast majority of them linked to drug offences.

The suspects are mainly male Finns of the age of 19 to 26.They were arrested at the Helsinki Exhibition and Convention Centre, the venue of the event.

Ecstasy was the drug mostly confiscated by the police. In most cases the quantity of drugs was minimal but in some cases the amount suggested that it was intended for sale.

A few people were arrested but none has been imprisoned.

Event organisers noticed during entry checks that a number of visitors had carried drugs and therefore contacted the police.
