A man reportedly committed suicide with his own gun after killing his wife on Tuesday night at Kitee in North Karelia, said the police.
The 48-year-old man is suspected to have first shot his 44-year-old wife and later turned the gun on himself.
The emergency response centre received a report at around 7:30 PM of the shooting in Ruppovaara neighbourhood of Kitee.
On arrival, the authorities found the woman in the front garden and by that time nothing could have been done to save her life. The body of the man was found inside the house.
According to the police, it is very likely that the dead were a married couple and that the man killed his wife and subsequently committed suicide with the same weapon.
The police believe no other people were involved in the incident. The investigation is ongoing.
