Several wildfires on Sunday continued to ravage in different parts of the country.
 
A huge forest fire in Heinävesi, South Savonia which was spreading to the nearby Kolevesi National Park was successfully extinguished.
 
More than 20 rescue service units and a helicopter were engaged in fighting fires which were started by lightening in the rough terrains.
 
There was also a major peat fire in Savitaipale, South Savonia.
 
The fire which consumed about 10 acres of forest area in Oulu was extinguished. Huge forest fires in Satakunta region and Eura were also brought under control.
 
Emergency response centres received about 25 reports of medium sized fires.
 
Earlier, forest fires broke out in different places of the country on Saturday and destroyed vast forest areas.
 
Finnish Meteorological Institute sources said the ongoing heat wave resulted in as many as 15 incidents of fire on Saturday.
 
The fires burnt 10-hector area in Kuopio Karttula while more than five hectors of forest was destroyed in Utajärvi on Saturday.
