A man was found dead on Thursday morning in a cell at the Eastern Finland Police Department in Kuopio.
 
According to the police, the man of about 20 was brought to the cell the previous evening due to intoxication.
 
An investigation into the incident has been initiated and transferred to the Häme Police Department.
 
Earlier, on August 7, the police confirmed that one foreign student died in July in their custody. The death of the Colombian student took place on the night between July 20 and 21. 
 
On July 28, a crime suspect died in police custody at Kouvola main police station. The police arrested the 54-year-old man who took a blood test at about 8:00pm and was later taken into custody.
 
The guards found him senseless a little before midnight and called for an ambulance, but he died.
 
Death in police cells is very rare, said the police. Only a dozen such cases happen in the country every year.
 
Meanwhile, a man of about 40 years was found dead in an apartment on Friday in Kuopio.
 
The Eastern Finland Police Department are investigating the case as murder as they suspect the man is a victim of violence.
 
The police on Friday detained two men in connection with the incident. The police are expected to release more details of their findings today.
