NATO and the European Union (EU) are "impossible" to provide any military aid to Ukraine, said Prime Minister Alexander Stubb on Monday.

Ukraine's Foreign Minister Pavlo Klimkin told German media previously that Ukraine has asked NATO and the EU for help including military aid.

Talking to the Finnish national broadcaster YLE, Stubb said that NATO only provides military assistance to its members and the EU does not have the capacity to provide military aid.

He emphasized that peace talks are the most important to solve the Ukraine crisis.

Over the weekend, Finnish President Sauli Niinisto met both Russian and Ukrainian presidents, and German, French, Russian and Ukrainian foreign ministers held talks in Berlin.

Stubb saw the negotiations a positive step towards a peaceful solution. He pointed out that the key issue at the moment is to secure a lasting ceasefire. However, no result has been yet achieved from the negotiation at this respect.
