The government will hold a meeting to discuss Finland’s current and long-term economic and social challenges at a strategy meeting scheduled for Friday in the Island of Lonna in Helsinki, said an official press release.
The theme of the meeting is “Finland onto a new path of recovery: growth and employment”.
The meeting, however, will not make any formal decision.
The day will start with opening remarks by Managing Director Vesa Vihriälä from the Research Institute of the Finnish Economy, Professor Bengt Holmström from MIT and President Jocelyne Bourgon from the Public Governance International.
The topic of Vihriälä’s and Holmström’s speeches is “Why does Finland rank high in international comparisons but its real economy stalls?” Bourgon will speak on “State as the future enabler and the preconditions for learning decision-making in Finland”.
The event will build on the discussions held by Jyrki Katainen’s government in the Aalto University in January.
