A fire broke out in Stora Enso paper factory in Kouvola on Saturday night.

The fire came from a machine in Anjalankoski paper mill.

At around midnight, a spokesman from the company said the paper machine will be out of use for about a day.

The spokesman could not however estimate how much the company would lose due to the disruption in production but does not think the impact of a day’s breakdown in production will be significant.

It is suspected that overheating of the paper machine caused the fire outbreak.

According to the spokesman, there are two paper machines and one cardboard machine at the Anjalankoski paper mill.

The chief fireman on duty said the fire spread to the roof and the attic. According to the preliminary estimates, the fire destroyed the press felts as well as some cables.
