The Defence Forces will begin modernisation of its battle tanks, reported the Finnish daily Helsingin Sanomat.
The army wants to improve the fire power and stealth features of around a hundred tanks.
The modernisation of the tanks will take place in 2015-2019.
According to the report, the pre-tax cost of modernising the fleet is around 25-30 million euros or about 200,000 euros per tank.
Two Finnish companies, Conlog and Oricopa, will compete for the contract. The assault tanks were purchased from the former Soviet Union more than 20 years ago.
