Inkeri Yritys, chair of the Kittilä municipal council, has blocked the municipal board members from dealing with a possible dismissal of the mayor.

The municipal board was expected to discuss on Monday evening whether Mayor Anna Mäkelä of Kittilä should be relieved of her duties due to a loss of confidence.

Yritys wonders whether members of the municipal board are fit to deal with the controversy surrounding the Levi ski lift.

The ski lift saga is understood to be under police investigation.

According to Yritys, the current board cannot be involved in matters which are related to ongoing police investigations.

The National Bureau of Investigation is investigating the roles of the CEO of the company and other figures in positions of responsibility within the municipality in the ski lift tender.

The controversy started when the mayor expressed her concerns to the police bypassing the municipal board.

According to Yritys, the provisional committee report on the mayor’s dismissal has incorrect information.

Mayor Makelä believes she is being targeted at. She termed the reasons calling for her dismissal unfounded.
