According to the report, the Kansallinen Kokoomus (National Coalition Party) council and its parliamentary group in a joint meeting on Wednesday afternoon decided unanimously on her appointment.
Sanni Grahn-Laasonen will succeed Ville Niinisto as the environment minister after the Vihreä Liitö (Green League) quits the government.
Grahn-Laasonen is a deputy chair of the National Coalition Party and also a first-time member of parliament. Grahn-Laasonen also served as Prime Minister Alexander Stubb’s press attaché during his time as the foreign minister.
The cabinet on Wednesday decided that the vacant environment portfolio be allocated to the National Coalition Party. The Suomen Sosialidemokraattinen Puolue (Social Democratic Party of Finland)-SDP will get the internal development docket. The SDP will inform its choice for a new minister today.
