FTimes - Xinhua Report, Oct. 11
The National Bureau of Investigation of Finland (NBI) arrested the three suspects earlier on Tuesday.
According to NBI, the three men were captured in the Finnish capital region and its surrounding area. The detained suspects have been all identified as Finnish citizens, and at least two of them are native Finns who converted to Islam, said Finnish media.
All the three suspects were imprisoned after the detention hearings at the Helsinki District Court on Friday.
All of the suspects are alleged to have committed murders with terrorist intent.
Two of them are charged to have provided training to commit terrorist crimes, while one is accused to have engaged in recruiting others to commit terrorist activities.
Finnish Police have investigated the case of four suspects alleged engaging in terrorism. The forth man has been already jailed by the Helsinki District Court on Thursday, even though he was not present at the court. He is a Finnish-US citizen who travelled to Syria for humanitarian purposes, disclosed Finnish media.
The actual number is slightly higher, said local media, as Supo is impossible to have collected information of all cases.
The majority of the people have involved in or attempted to participate in the armed conflicts happening in the areas. At most six of them died in the battles, estimated Supo, and some of them have returned to Finland.
The other four suspects were on trial for funding terrorist organizations last month. The case is considered the first ever investigation into suspected terrorist offenses in Finland.
Local media said that the case will be also processed by the Helsinki District Court later in this autumn.
