FTimes - STT Report, Oct. 18

Earlier in the day, the court ruled that one suspect should be kept behind bars on suspicion of preparing to commit terrorist crimes and providing training to commit terrorist crimes.

Olli Piipponen, the lawyer representing the first suspect, said the man denied the accusation. The suspect last week was sentenced to jail in suspicion of committing murder with terrorist intent. However, the National Bureau of Investigation is no longer demanding the suspect be detained on this murder suspicion.

Later on the day, a second suspect was jailed for suspicion of preparing to commit terrorist crimes.

The court did not deal with the case faced by the two remaining suspects on Thursday.

The Helsinki District Court decided last week to jail three men who were suspected of engaging in terrorist activities abroad. One other suspected was sentenced to jail in absentia.
