Prime Minister Alexander Stubb believes a tough negotiation lies ahead in Thursday’s European Union summit on the climate and energy package.

According to the premier, it is difficult to agree on the realisation of distribution burden of emission targets.

“At this moment we are going by the model in which poor countries’ costs will be based according to the GDP, while to us, the richer countries, we will have some sort of combination of GDP and cost effectiveness,” said Stubb.

The premier said the country has been able to drive forward important issues such as development of bio-fuel use in transportation. He said the task is to get these elements to be kept in the final version of the package.
