Finns can now apply for e-residence in Estonia providing scope to access a number of electronic services there, said Estonian Police and Border Guard.
Through e-residence, one is issued with an electronic identification card which allows one to sign to a number of e-services and Estonian state digital services.
E-services are widely used in Estonia. The e-residence is beneficial to those with links to Estonia but do not live in the country and not qualify for residence permit.
The system makes it easier for instance for Finnish businessmen who will be able to use e-services while in their home country.
The application for e-residency is submitted at an Estonia Police or Border Guard office. The applicant is required to submit fingerprints and passport photo while applying for e-residence.
