The mother accused of terminating five nearly full term foetuses told the court on Monday that the births were stillborn.

According to the mother, the babies were motionless, did not cry and were very small in size.

She also told the court that she had given birth alone at home. However, she did not give any reason why she stored the remains of the babies.

The woman has a teenage boy whom she gave birth in 2001 at home. At that time, the woman's parents had called the ambulance.

According to the woman's testimony, the birth had been traumatic. The woman also said that she had repeated the pattern after the death of the first baby. She felt that nobody would help her, she added.

The woman told the court that she did not dare to go to a doctor or visit the pre-natal clinic because she already had a stillbirth in 2005 and visiting a clinic would have made it clear that she had given birth previously.

She said that she had experienced financial difficulties and the father of the child born in 2005 had blackmailed her financially. In addition, the man had prevented her from visiting the clinic.

The woman said she had been happy with her pregnancy in 2010. Despite being happy with the pregnancy, she lied that she had a miscarriage. The woman admitted she had marital problems in her last two pregnancies and that her husband was away from home a lot.

The accused said that she feels great sorrow for her actions and presented before the court a letter she had written to her relatives during the pre-trial investigation. In the letter she had expressed deep regret and sorrow which she said she will bear for the rest of her life.
