The parliament on Friday voted 101-90 to adopt the same-sex marriage bill during the second reading of the citizens' initiative for equal marriage rights.
 
Seven members of parliament were absent during the vote while one MP abstained.
 
A legislative proposal is either adopted or rejected by parliament during the second reading.
 
At the end of last month, the parliament voted 105-92 in support of the bill during the first reading.

The issue was referred to the parliament's Grand Committee in the beginning of this month.
 
The Grand Committee, which also extended its support for amending the Marriage Act into gender-neutral form, voted 17-8 in favour of the amendments.
