Court proceeding of the bribery and abuse of official position charges on former head of Helsinki Police drug unit Jari Aarnio begins on Tuesday at the Helsinki District Court.
 
Deputy Prosecutor General confirmed that Aarnio is faced with up to four-and-a-half year imprisonment for the charges which pertains crimes related to tracking device company Trevoc.
 
According to the Prosecutor's Office, Aarnio is suspected of participating in the acquisition of the tracking devices at the Helsinki Police Department while at the same time involved in the activities of Trevoc.
 
In addition to Helsinki Police Department, the devices were dispatched to the Customs, the security police and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs at a cost of about 1.2 million euros.
 
Aarnio has denied all the charges. His lawyer has said that Aarnio does not own Trevoc and neither has he been a decision maker in the company.
 
Aarnio, who is under suspicion of a number of offences, has been in detention since November 2013.
