Forty per cent priests are willing to conduct marriage ceremonies of same-sex couples, according to a poll conducted by the Lännen Media which produces content for 12 regional papers.
 
The opinions of the priests vary across the regions as well as the sexes.
 
In Helsinki, 60 per cent of the priests are in favour of conducting marriage ceremonies to same-sex couples.
 
Sixty-five per cent of women priests are ready to tie the knot to gay couples, while 73 per cent of male priests are against marrying gay couples. 
 
Nearly 400 priests from all over the country were interviewed in the survey.
