The Helsinki District Court on Monday fined the chief executive officer of University Pharmacy and its human resource director for discrimination against an employee.
The company hired the employee in 2012, but the contract was terminated four days later.
According to the court, the reason for termination of employment was based on the employee’s previous health condition.
The employee previously worked in the company between 2006 and 2009, but his employment was cut short due to illness.
The employee applied for the same job again and was hired. A new contract was not handed to the employee, but, according to the court, the employee had already started working.
The court ruled that the termination of the employee’s employment was not justified.
Both the company’s CEO and human resource director were handed a 30-day fine.
