Some people on Friday staged separate demonstrations in Tampere and Helsinki in support of better treatment of part-time workers.

According to the police, about 30 people gathered to protest at Leilahti Citymarket’s parking lot in Tampere.

In Helsinki, about 50 people led a procession from the Railway Square to Kesko Food headquarters through the city’s “southern shore” (Eteläranta).

The aim of the protest was to express support for a pair of Tampere-based summer workers who had challenged K-Citymarket in court for involuntary part-time unemployment, demanding to be compensated by their employer.

Earlier in the month, the Pirkanmaa District Court dismissed the case.
