The court has ordered a psychiatric assessment of the mother suspected of killing babies at her own request.

The court will decide on the nature of the offence and the intentions of the suspect upon completion of the psychiatric assessment. The final judgement will also be given at a later date.

However, in its interlocutory judgement, the court observed that it is likely the birth, termination and concealing and subsequent decimation of the babies by the 35-year old woman had been planned.

The court also observed that, except in one case, the woman did not want anyone to know about the babies’ births.

Furthermore, the court held that the woman’s definite intention was to kill the babies she had given birth to. According to the court, the woman must have known by virtue of general life experience that babies require care and warmth. The mother must have been also aware of the significance of sealing the containers which contained the remains of the babies.

The mother, according to the court, seemed to have acted intentionally, in case the psychiatric assessment does not indicate otherwise.

The accused faces five murder charges and five counts of grave discretion.
