In an interview with YLE, National Security Intelligence Police-Supo head of communications Jyri Rantala said people living in the country are constantly being targets of espionage by foreign powers.
According to Rantala, a variety of technical systems are used for this purpose and according to Supo’s intelligence that may include the use of what is known as fake base station.
However, Supo declined to give detailed information about where the espionage had taken place as well as who might have been behind the attempted espionage.
According to YLE, less than a week ago, the Norwegian police cautioned politicians about possible taps on their mobile phones, after uncovering a cache of listening devices in different parts of Oslo, including near the parliament and other government buildings.
Earlier this week, the Swedish daily Dagens Nyheter reported uncovering of 42 suspicious activities near the government buildings in Stockholm.
