Extreme freezing conditions and fast condensation of the weather could form a catastrophic combination for water pipes.
Small house residents are advised to pay careful attention to the pipes in the coming days in case the pipes get frozen.
Sähkötreffit, a general electrification service-provider, advised wrapping the pipes with warm covering or letting water run slowly as a first aid.
To prevent the pipes from getting frozen from inside, electric heating cables can be installed around the pipes.
Temperatures in most part of the country are forecast to be close to zero on Tuesday and Wednesday. In some places, that can even rise to plus readings.
Lapland, where temperature in some places dropped recently to minus 35 degrees Celcius, will begin to become warmer during the New Year’s Eve.
