The British Foreign Secretary, Right Honourable Philip Hammond is scheduled to arrive in Finland on Thursday, said an official press release.
Hammond will meet Prime Minister Alexander Stubb, Minister for Foreign Affairs Erkki Tuomioja and Minister of Economic Affairs Jan Vapaavuori during the visit.
The Foreign Secretary's main intention during the visit is to explain to Finland Britain's objectives and views concerning the EU as a part of British Prime Minister David Cameron's Cabinet's efforts to clarify the UK's relationship with the EU.
The matter should be viewed against the background of Cameron's pledge that a referendum on EU membership will be held if his Conservative Party wins the general election of May 2015.
Other topics of discussion will include questions related to Russia and Ukraine and the situation in the Middle East.
The visit to Helsinki is a part of Hammond’s tour of the EU countries' capitals. His next stop after Finland will be Lithuania.
