The German Air Force will begin cold environment flight tests of two CH-53GA-transport helicopters in Finland, said the Finnish Army.

The performance of the helicopters is to be evaluated through the tests that begin on Tuesday and conclude on 11 February.

They also include flight tests in bright and dark conditions and will be concentrated within an estimated radius of a hundred kilometres of the Utti airport. Depending on the weather conditions, the flights could extend further.

The tests will be conducted at the Utti Jaeger Regiment in Kouvola.

The arriving German unit consists of about 45 people. The Germans are responsible for the costs related to the testing activities.
