Prime Minister Alexander Stubb on Monday met with his Serbian counterpart   Aleksandar Vučić at the Premier's official residence Kesäranta, said an official press release.
 
The topics of discussions revolved around current issues in the EU, Serbia's OSCE chairmanship, Russia-Ukraine situation, Western Balkans situation as well as bilateral relations between Finland and Serbia.
 
Stubb said Finland supports Serbia's EU membership process and encourages the progress of the country's economic structural reforms and economic stabilisation as well as fundamental rights issues.
 
Serbia's membership process relays a positive message throughout the whole of Western Balkans region, said Stubb.
 
The two leaders also discussed Serbia's chairmanship of the OSCE which Finland fully supports. In this context, the Russian-Ukraine situation was discussed. Both the Prime Ministers emphasised the importance of Ukraine's territorial integrity.
 
With regard to Western Balkans, the talks focused on the dialogue between Serbia and Kosovo and the Bosnia-Herzegovina situation.
 
Prime Minister's Vučić's visit aims to strengthen bilateral ties between the two countries and opportunities for Finnish entrepreneurs in Serbia. Approximately 70 Finnish companies operate in Serbia.
 
Stubb said the bilateral relations between the two countries are very good.
 
Serbia's integration into the EU will create new opportunities and will also strengthen the bilateral relations between Finland and Serbia as well between the authorities and actors in the private sector, said Stubb.
 
In addition, Stubb said the conditions towards strengthening trade and investment between the two countries are good.
 
During his visit,Vučić also met President Sauli Niinistö and Foreign Minister  Erkki Tuomioja.
